29.07.2007, Azad & Tina's akad...

okay i think i've mentioned to some that this weekend is rather filled with weddings! and last nights outing would be even better if we did not have to get up really early in the morning, yes indeed we understand we are not getting any younger, and to some you don't need the 8 hours of beauty sleep no more, cause as an adult which i hate to admit, you only need/require 5 hours of sleep!

damn. damn. damn.

anyway, the initial plan was to wake up latest by 8 a.m. but that did not happen either. haha, yes usually we'll be up and about by 7:30 a.m. but the outing, the dancing, the coming home at 3 a.m. did not contribute to our mundane daily activity, so yes in other words we all "terlajak tidur!"...

woke up at 9, got ready like a speeding bullet we had a reminder from azad to be at his place by 9:45 a.m. so yeah i cannot delay any precious time trying to figure out what accessories to wear, handbag to change to, shoes to go with the baju kurung and all the mumbo jumbo. so, as i was getting ready i had a mental image of everything already, like i said... like a speeding bullet!

got at his place by 10, we know a bit irresponsible 10 minutes late, but hey they were getting ready too! taking pictures, still arranging bits and pieces of the barang hantaran, some was still wearing their samping and what not so technically, we weren't that late!

as we gathered we were informed that those who was assigned to carry the dulangs to tina's place will be sitting together in the van, just to make sure that it reaches there at the same time. i was already thinking to myself, "oh gosh, i have to drive all by myself to kota damansara, not knowing the address and all... and i had to drive my bro's savvy, in my heels? shit what a combo!! double whammy.

okay bravely i embraced the fact that i had to make some sacrifices (yes for azad and tina). drove and waited in the car, suddenly i saw azad's nephew approaching and asking me if i was going to make my way there alone... so he asked if he could get someone to carpool with me, so i said yeah sure, gladly i accepted. not knowing it was one of azad's aunt! oh-oh! "how am i going to handle this?", i'm afraid that she'll see me in my worse element, when i'm panicking! shit!!

before we left, they were explaining the routes that we'll be using to get there. they mentioned "jalan duta - toll" i was thinking, "where the heck is that?" but i nodded and acted smart! FOR SOME OF YOU WHO KNOWS ME VERY WELL, I DO NOT DRIVE IN AREAS THAT I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH, ALONE!! yes shallow, but hey that's just me... but i was thinking, can't be that bad... we're going to convoy anyway... NOT!!

i was driving the little savvy when everyone else had the super duper fast european cars, shit... as the "kura-kura" that i am, i almost "tercicir" from the convoy... but somehow with the help from azad's aunt, we arrived safely at the destination! PHEW. thank god i did not drive her all the way to ipoh, that would have been a different story all together!

the akad reception was rather long winded (no punt, intended) i guess the two spokesperson just got carried away by representing each families. can you imagine being there and listening to pantun, after pantun for at least a good 35 minutes! here we're looking at the groom, sweating nervously! waiting, anxious, praying every minute that this would end the very next second... but nooooooo.... he had to wait. then finally they decided to stop, i think they ran out of pantuns and stuff! poor most of the ladies who was seated at the hall with us, they complained they could not feel their legs. as for me, my ass and legs was already numb!

finally the whole thing ended and the bride and groom looked extremely relieved! the taklik was read, and yeah everyone could not wait to see the couple slipping the beautiful rings onto each others fingers! phew, what a relief huh zad? i'm sure you're glad that all the anticipation is gone! you can now smile and say, hey i've been there done that! and you have finally joined the club!!

congratulations azad and tina, it was a lovely akad reception! and you guys looked absolutely gorgeous, i would love to get my hands on the video and pictures.

alhamdulillah, both weddings was really blessed with wonderful wishes and people.
