non-stop-b****-mode

as soon as i woke up, i realized that there was something i felt irritated about on my forehead, as i ran my fingers over it... damn it! there's a zit making its way out on the surface! but somehow this little twerp is fiesty, it was just hurting me, halfway, its not that visible just yet. argh, i'm not the sort to pick or burst it, i'll just wait for it to heal on its own, and others will offer to do it for me.

yes by reading the first paragraph, i wasn't that enthusiatic... i got even more frustrated later but this situation can't be helped! ergh... that's why my name on msn was des-pression! depressed and desperate! anyhoo, i didn't want to stay at home and sulk about it, so i decided its best that i just worked out, made my way to the gym... at least we could enjoy our sweet time there, with the never ending breeze, having full control of the t.v. but when we got to the gym, ARGHH!!
GREAT! there was an OLD LADY there using the treadmill, god damn it! we have no control over the t.v. i was looking forward to catch the jamie oliver's show... but instead we had to settle for the hallmark channel.

nevermind, i just did cardio and tried to make a friendly gesture, smile or acknowledge her presence, but oh-my-goodness, it was just oh-so-impossible! so i ignored it.

got ready to meet the rest at chillis o.u. i was so crazy-hungry! that i actually felt my hands trembling and i kid you not. we sat at the high stool, and the waiter came up to us and asked, "yes sir, how many sitting here, how many you expecting?"

BITCH MODE ON!

i looked at him and said, we're expecting some friends (then i rolled my eyes)... it shouldn't even matter (right?), it wasn't even FULL to begin with. so? why didn't you ask that TWAT who was sitting on his own at the next table to move to the bar?!? nevermind, right after i ordered my food jon arrived, and there was a girl walking with her boyfriend, she stared at hubs with that look on her face (like she knew him from some where)... as she passed by i asked jon, what the f*** she staring at?? jon just burst out laughing at me.

hubs received his food, and before they sent mine... i mentioned to him that i think they did not get my orders correctly, SPOT ON! told them didn't want the mash wanted the fries. so he looked at me and said ok, don't worry free fries for you ok? HOORAY! at least something was pleasing me.

BITCH MODE should have been off, after eating... it was rather difficult for me to turn it off.. haha can you imagine my ever ready bitchy-responses. not a pretty sight.

current song i'm listening to: i feel it all by Feist

sucker for entourage

it has been a while since i had gotten the "entourage" series, from season 1-3! but as usual i procrastinate, it takes me a while before i could warm up to a brand new series... with new characters and new story line. before i actually got my hands on entourage, most of my friends who'd seen it said, it's like the guy version of sex and the city! so i thought, since i loved s.a.t.c and entourage is also by HBO, i'm sure it'll be great!

as soon as i saw the first episode, i thought they had brilliant characters in the show, brilliant here doesn't mean they're as smart as einstein or anything, the characters they had were extremely whitty/hilarious! i got hooked instantly!

wouldn't it be great if we could have the same lifestyle as they do, as and when they wished for something, poof its there... say i'm bored with my car for this week, just drive up to another car dealer with a great lease plan, boom i get to drive around town with the latest hummer, aston or merc! don't you just love it? i do!!

i like the fact that you can be as spontaneous with things that you'd like to purchase, but i don't like the fact that you'd have to be a PARASITE! i don't know how some individual can just live with the fact that he/she can live off friends, and expect to get paid or shall i say be hired and all he/she needs to do is "fluff" the other persons a**! how do you sleep at night? if you're thinking oh-gosh who could do something like that, please do not be surprised that this is pretty common. there'll be one bread-winner, and the rest is sucking every dime out of him!...

anyway, if you've not gotten your hands on entourage, you should not waste anytime! grab it or kick someone if you have to... oh yeah, look out for mr. ari gold, his lines are out of this world!

oh oh... am i obsessing over this now? like i did on sex and the city and friends?... hmmm....

a dark chocolate a day keeps the doctors away!

i'm sure you've read some articles telling you that chocolates are not healthy for you. while reading some of the research i was just smiling to myself, ya-be-da-be-doo! it's pretty awesome to learn that researchers did an excellent job on this, but mind you the chocolates that the researches are referring to is DARK CHOCOLATES!

according to webmd.com, eating a small approximately 1.6 ounce a bar everyday is good for you. dark chocolate bars with high content of dark-cocoa is loaded with something called epicatechin, its an active member of group of compounds called plant flavonoids... which keeps the cholesterol from gathering in blood vessels, which means it helps reducing the risk of getting blood clots, and slow down the immune responses that leads to clogged arteries.

benefits of dark chocolate:
1. lowers blood pressure - but it has to be balanced by eating lesser of other things.
2. antioxidants - the antioxidants gobble up the free radicals, destructive molecules that are implicated in heart disease and other ailments.

so you see, when you read articles telling you chocolates are bad for you they're not always true, maybe for the milk-chocolate and white chocolate... well anything excessive is bad for you anyway. right? so don't be a fool, do more research, that's the least you can do... it's not that hard right?

hopefully this article brings a smile to your face too! as it did for me.

could be anything

the song of the day... been singing and humming the song, by eames era - could be anything.

Run along, run a long way to find a one
Find a one who could turn you on
Underneath a cloudless sun

I certainly hope that you are happy
With your new change of company
Surrounded by your enemies

Can't you see if I could be anything I want to be I would be you, see,
Can't you see if I could be anything

And if you say everything will want to go your way
I will turn you away as easily as I turned you into me

Run along, run a long way to find a one
Find a one who could turn you on
Underneath a cloudless sun

I certainly hope that you are happy
With your new change of company
Surrounded by your enemies

If you say everything will want to go your way
I will turn you away as easily as I turned you into me

And can't you see if I could be anything I want to be I would be you, see,
Can't you see if I could be anything

Oh, oh, there's a lot of things I could say to make you understand
I don't have time to explain

Can't you see if I could be anything I want to be I would be you, see,
Can't you see if I could be anything

And if you say everything will want to go your way
I will turn you away as easily as I turned you into me

And can't you see if I could be anything I want to be I would be you, see,
If I could be…

ahhh, i just love it... la la doo dee... woooweeee...

had errands to run in the morning, managed to find out the schedule for the toefl exam which i have been procrastinating... its high time that i just register for the thing! met dee, jon and hubs for late lunch. called bani but she was in banting, another time then. as soon as the boys left, we got to business (sat and chat for such a long time! it was fun...) and i'm happy for you babes, your baby bro who is what 6 ft tall, is back! have a great time with your family.

disappointed by the apostate

as i was browsing the newspaper today, i read a small column about salman rushdie being knighted... instead of feeling happy, i was disgusted! i looked at hubs and started asking bits and pieces bout his background. as many questions remained unanswered, i googled him. it's crazy, i couldn't believe my eyes, i don't know how one can act and do what ever he's done...

according to the website, he was born into the muslim world, but somehow he turned his back on it (apostate), and wrote horrible things in his book called "the satanic verses". he had received death threats and a fatwa (religious edict) which was issued by Ayatollah Ruhollah, the supreme leader of Iran then, calling for his assasination... according to the papers it was worth millions, but salman rushdie made fun of it. he also mentioned the cards that he receives every valentines day from Iran, letting him know about their vows on killing him... "it's come to a point whereby it becomes rhetoric more than a threat"...

can you believe this guy? oh gosh, i was really frustrated and angry... but i guess its pointless to get angry, i will be wasting my time and energy.

he broke my heart

ever since we got back, the frequent issues that we've been hearing about is:

1. the altantuya's case
2. the floods in kl
3. local artist featured in youtube for some "french" action
and
4. the spanish and english media dispute: over alonso and hamilton.

but out of all these issues, the one that really broke my heart is to learn that henry is leaving arsenal!!

according to sky sports, he bid an emotional final "adieu" to his fans, and that we should recognize his efforts in north london. ARGHHH!! he really broke my heart, and seriously these past few seasons, arsenal's been doing badly... and now he's leaving? every time i put the effort to pay attention to football i get heart broken, during the world cup - brazil broke my heart, and now henry is leaving arsenal... after 7 years supporting arsenal... i'm just not going to pay attention to football anymore, too much heartache for me....

the only thing i'm counting on right now is... f1... mc laren...

am hoping that they won't break my heart too.

back in kl

the journey back to kl was totally unbearable! errghh... i just hate going through indian ocean! damn it. we only managed to sleep for 20 minutes out of our 7 hours flight, no funny right? ah well, we arrived at 5:40 a.m. i was extremely tired by the time we landed. took the taxi back home, had a quick nap in the car, and by the time we got home, showered, and crashed! i thought, we only needed 2 hours of sleep, that we'll be awake by 11, but by the time we woke up it was 1 p.m.

woke up was still groggy, received a message from mom and dad... made my way back to their place for a couple of hours, just sat there updated dad bout the whole trip... and passed them all the prezzies! hehe.

made my way back home before the jam started, and got ready to meet my in-laws, we had dins at delicious for a couple of hours, they shared our enthusiasm. we were happy... we left dins quite early bout 9:30 p.m. then we made our way to subang, to meet dee, jonjon, hadi and my bro at pan bakery. it was pretty nice, its been a while... what? almost a month huh? hehe, nah it was lesser than that. happy to hear that jonjon will be in singapore to do his intern, congrats dude! (shall we plan a trip there then???)

anyway... that's all folks!

good-bye dubai

really felt sad while packing my luggage. our little holiday is over. we're going home, i know i should feel all happy and excited... but i know when we get back to kl, everything is going to get hectic.

it has been extremely great here. although we didn't get to play badminton, or futsal we managed to do just fine. going to the gym and swimming... got to find something to substitute our exercises.

i know i've been complaining about the unfortunate events on taxis, and the long queue, but i'm still going to miss the desert, excluding the weather. hehe, best time to be in dubai is during winter, for those interested but bare in mind the hotel charges are going to sky rocket.

argh! i usually look forward to going back home, but this time i had mix emotions. we made ourselves too comfortable that it already felt like home...

good-bye my sweet dubai...

eventful day - mercato mall, the palm, and the marina...

today we decided to leave the apartment earlier, so mom can at least enjoy her last day here. we made our way to mercato mall, by far one of the nicest mall in dubai for me. the mall is not too big, the design is so colorful and vibrant, the crowd is bearable, and the shops that they have is sufficient for the shoppers.

mom was talking about how much she loves the design of the mall, and she was hoping and wishing that hubs and myself will have the opportunity to work in dubai or abu dhabi so she could visit us frequently... (secretly wishing and hoping in my heart too ma!... really i do...)

from where we entered, the first shop we passed by was the shoe shop! oh oh my kryptonite!! seriously, oh gosh, please get me out of this place!! we were looking at their collection, its extremely stylish. i saw the "in" slippers with swarovsky crystals and thought it would be extremely expensive but it was rather affordable... tried them on and it was the perfect fit! hehe, you know what to expect next, that particular pair made its way next to the cashier! then... i still couldn't stop browsing, damn it! i saw another pair that i thought i should just have! WHAT IN THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME??!! (then we left, instead of feeling guilty, i was happy!)

hubs was walking around and got himself a watch, haha we're doing the last minute shopping i guess. this time round i decided that it's better to spend on one particular item that i really like, even though its slightly pricey. i usually complaint after a trip that i usually buy a lot of these small items such as accessories which makes no sense at all, and it doesn't have any value at the end of the day. then i REGRET every second, minutes and hours, of not buying what i liked. (YES DRAMATIC)

sat down at the cafe, for an hour... mom was chatting with bella, sharing her experiences and stories about life and work, which bella took interest in. hubs and myself just sat and listened. if you're wondering, how come in every blog that i have posted all we do is just sit and have coffee, its apart of their lifestyle in dubai, it is extremely normal for them to sit down, and sip on their drinks for an hour or so with friends, and family... if you can't beat them, join them...

we left the beautiful mall, made our way to check out "the palm on the jumeirah beach" we only managed to drive onto the trunk of the palm, the highway is complete, the apartments on the trunk is halfway done... so we made a u-turn... and made our way to the marina.

just thought i should share some pictures we took along the way to marina and marina itself... haaa... i just love this place...

whattaday!

today we totally prepped ourselves before we left the apartment. this was to avoid from looking like "orang minyak"!!

1. comfortable clothes (check)
2. comfortable shoes (check)
3. extra t-shirts (check)
4. body spray (check)
5. tissues (check)
6. evian facial spray (check)

haha, yes we were extremely anal since we were heading towards naif! the jam in naif area was such a pain! for us to get to the entrance of the parking area took us 15 minutes! it was rather annoying, and the weather is extremely warm today... who the heck am i kidding! its freaking HOT!!

parked the car and walked to the gold souk, if you're wondering what the gold souk is let me explain to you... its like you walking in petaling street in kl, instead of the retailers selling fake bags/wallet/belts and whatever they can get under the sun, in gold souk is just GOLD! from 18k-24k. we walked and checked out most of the shops it was difficult for me to decide what i wanted. haha. mom and hubs got what they wanted! then bella told me to get myself a sabica (don't know if i got the spelling right!) which is a great investment. so yeah she got one for herself. and i was still walking empty handed. haha. for the first time i was the only one who couldn't make a decision. heck!

well my main aim was to purchase things for my in-laws, went to the famous material shop - phulwani, i felt so much at home... they spoke to us is bahasa, and offered us teh-tarik and everything, we were there for an hour... and left with 7 different materials. hehe.

met my uncle at a chinese restaurant - china sea restaurant, near the clock tower. bella didn't join us for dins, she had to rush back cause she was working the next day. while eating uncle halim called uncle salleh, and mom had persuaded him to join us. we waited for 45 minutes, well it cluded the dinner and what not, then as we were leaving they appeared at the entrance. this was the first time i was meeting uncle halim! out of the 26 years of my life. i was glad that i met him, he's whitty and spontaneous. aunt theresa said i looked exactly like kak didi, and mom agreed. uncle halim will be transfered to abu dhabi soon, still attached with the same company - etisalat. he is by far the most qualified mathematician for the university. i'm proud of him!

we went for our usual chai session with uncle salleh at the creek, opposite the rolex tower. sat and took photos, we were laughing away and enjoying the short breeze that we had gotten for 10 minutes, but it was priceless...

(rolex tower)

(hubs, uncle salleh & mom)

(uncle salleh, myself & mom) - the non-approachable "kabayans"!

great discovery

while sipping my coffee mom arrived at the apartment, looking all happy and chirpy... asked her why she's happy? she said cause we'll be roomies! haha, thought that was really cute! we made chicken noodle soup for brunch, since we were going out later bout 2. i decided to ask mom to watch "the holiday" movie. have you seen it? oh gosh, i can't get bored of that show seriously!! its such a FEEL GOOD movie, i'm always smiling as though there's a hanger in my mouth after the show. ahh, its great to have that "zsa-zsa-zsu" feeling! and if you're wondering what that is, its the churning feeling you get in your stomach, you know majority calls it butterflies in the stomach, comprendre?

we left half way through out the show, made our way to mall of emirates. asked mom if she had anything in particular that she was looking for... of course not, mom is an impulse buyer! haha. i should know better. after getting our feets all worked up, we decided to meet up for coffee with hubs at my all time favorite cafe, PAUL. this place is highly recommended to all who will be going to Dubai, London or any other country that has it! you just have to, and trust me, you could close your eyes and point your finger onto anything in the menu and have no regrets! all the pastries, YUMMY! can't ask for any better, the french makes it "le meilleur"!

waited for bella and uncle salleh, for a while and mom had lots to catch up with uncle salleh. bout the family and all. we just sat and waited. then they decided to have dinner at a thai restaurant bout 20 minutes from m.o.e. off sheikh zayed rd, the decor was all wooden and it has all the carvings, no detailed info.

to our surprise, the thai food was very much alike the ones we can get back home. you know its rather difficult to get good asean food in dubai. either its too expensive and the food is rather blend, or its cheap and the food is served in extremely small portions and its seriously yucky! so yeah, we discovered a great thai restaurant there! hehe. i was happy.

so next trip my dear brother, you won't get home sick ok? we have the perfect restaurant to eat our tom yam and fried rice yeah? hehe. no more "mandhi laham" for you.

mom = great meal!

you know usually when you go for a holiday, you'd think that its just better to eat outside and indulge, but you know that it's going to burn a hole (oh wait, a BIG one)in your wallet! especially in dubai.

mom will be arriving today! i'm sure you know why i'm excited. mom + food = great home cooked food! haha, if you're thinking that i'm such a slacker, just to clarify the air, i'm not!! i cook too :P

anyway, i was checking my phone for the last hour and there was no messages from her, so we got ready and went ahead with our plans. finally she called, she said she's been trying to reach me. well, i guess the network for DU was interrupted or something. all the messages that she had sent to me was received an hour later.

met mom at city center, i was excited and happy. we walked and talked updated each other bout the happs and all, and yes i have not seen her for the last 2 weeks, mom knows me well and i kid you not on this!

we left the place and headed to hyatt galleria, since she was staying there for a night we decided to cook, bought groceries, i think it's not advisable to let us do the shopping for groceries, we seem to be thinking with our stomachs instead of brains! haha. we were hungry.

we had pasta with pepperoni and capsicum, quiche, and fried chicken fillet! yuuuummmmy! see told you we'd get a complete meal when mom's around.

mall, sight seeing, and dinner

bella & i
broadwalk view
hubs & i

today we were in ibn battuta, customized a pendant and spelled my name in arabic, i like! its cute, well at least i think so.

after that we decided to go for a long drive before dinner, looking at the apartments and houses in dubai. i was looking forward to seeing the houses at mirdiff and arabian ranches (by emaar). just love the way the houses are designed, and not forgetting the landscape too! however, the houses in arabian ranches are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! but i just love it. insyallah, will work my ass off to get it! that's a promise.

made our way to the dubai golf creek, for dinner at this restaurant called broadwalk oh wait, either broad or board... haha well either one doesn't matter we still had to eat anyway. we ordered the club sandwich, nachos (highly recommended) and the soup (totally not worth it). the place is pretty chilled out, the restaurant is over looking the creek and you can see a couple of yatchs parked outside. unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the dinner outside, it was hot! no breeze, so we ate inside.

we were pretty tired, so bella dropped us back to the apartment. and she headed back home to abu dhabi.

spontaneity - brought us to abu dhabi

(marina mall)

bella picked us up from the apartment, none of us had any plans. we were pretty clueless, been to most of the shopping malls, and participated in most of the activities. she asked whether we've been to abu dhabi, told her we haven't, we haven't been to the last two emirates. abu dhabi and umm al quimm. so she said we're heading to abu dhabi, i'll show you the difference between dubai and abu dhabi.

after an hour, we got to abu dhabi... the city was well planned, the buildings and the way they planned the town reminded me so much of melbourne, its all parallel and organized.

we decided to have lunch at marina mall - moka cafe, the only mall that i know in the rest of UAE that rains (and yes in-door!). that was pretty nice, a good change... i missed the wheather in KL, so rain was good for me. the simulation for the "thunder and lightning" was pretty real... yeah cheap thrill, but can't blame them, they don't really get rain there, maybe once or twice a year.

left the mall and drove around for a while, passed the 7 star hotel in abu dhabi, and i was blown away... its really beautiful. i thought it was the palace, at first. well it is called the Emirates Palace.

Bella being spontaneous, decided to just stop at the guard house and ask them if we could just drive in and take pictures of the hotel and its garden, he looked at us and said, we're only allowed to let the guests in and those who have reservations with the cafes in. she just looked at them and asked for the hotels telephone number, and called the reception counter immediately. she had requested for an instant reservation at the coffee house...

so they let us in.

(emirates palace)

i was amazed with the landscape and the detailed carvings that they had for each arch at every wing. the drive way to the jockey took us approximately 5-7 minutes! imagine the size of the place. walked into the hotel, half of the hotel was coated with the gold leaves onto the walls and pillars! again the detailed work was extremely superb! kudos to the architect and the ID!

sat down and enjoyed the coffee, chocolates, and strawberry cheese cake with bella and hubs...

without any plans, we just ended up there, sipping our drinks enjoying each others company.

(bella & i - entrance of emirates palace)

thanks bella!

A E R O S M I T H !

He revealed the words, "Lick Me" below his navel area, and it isn't an activity recommended for people nearing a pensionable age, but it's Steven Tyler! Voted as one of the sexiest man alive by the Rolling Stones. Apparently he's 59 years old, and yet he has the energy like a teenager! That's the thing about Mr. Tyler and Aerosmith.

The show went on for nearly two hours, and as usual you'll see the way he flirts with all the fans, and the same goes for Mr. Joe Perry the lead guitarist. He was walking up and down the catwalk, posing and preening like a model, you just got to love him for that.

They performed most of their famous songs, from the album big ones. we made sure we were there early as "i don't want to miss a thing", to hear the song about the "love in the elevator", i was looking around for a "dude (looks like a lady)" but i was out of luck. instead i saw a lot of "angels" singing and screaming like "crazy"! so there you have it, the jist of what he sang.

I had no complaints what so ever about his show, he sounds as good as the cd! DAMN! i was very much impressed with the performance and i was drenched in my sweat, but i was having fun! Singing and screaming on top of my lungs! Well i could be out of tune, but guess what?!! It was awesome. Unbelievable. The legends! YEEEHAAA! I have been waiting for them since forever, and finally... BOOM! They were singing right in front of me, well not directly, i was way back from the stage, but heck i could still see and hear them.

This is the highlight of the holiday!!

Next show i'm looking forward to is Timbaland's show, care to join us anyone? It'll be in November!

31st May - a day to remember!

a day to remember, reasons:

1. aerosmiths concert!
2. the never ending mishaps with TAXIs!

whole day i had to pace myself, didn't want to get myself exhausted! so we went to city center again... we said that we'd only be there at most for 2 hours, but that didn't happen. HAH! we walked for 2 hours, had coffee for half an hour and waited for the TAXI for 1 and a half hours! BOOHOO! i was worried that by the time we got to the apartment that we'll be late for the concert. so i checked the time, nah i'm not going to sweat about it, aerosmith starts at 10! it shouldn't be that bad.
checked the time again, damn it was already 7:00 when we finally got the cab back, and the journey took another 30 minutes. so yeah, we got back and changed, and waited for the next taxi to go to the Dubai Exile Rugby club. it was a BIG/HUGE mistake! it was during the rush hour. DAMN DAMN DAMN!

waited for another hour for a taxi, and boom finally we got one that had some sympathy for us i guess, he stopped. and when we told him that we are going to the rugby club, he looked at us and asked, "you know where? if you do, i take you..." i was like, "what? the.... TOOOT TOOOOT and TOOOOOT!!" how are we suppose to know where that is... hubs finally spoke to the concierge and he gave us the map. we stopped the next taxi and showed the place to him, he just nodded and drove us there. traffic was pretty alright, since it was away from the city.

i was getting all excited, i saw the lit stadium, heart was racing, and towards the final corner... DAMNNNNNNNNN!!! the traffic was madness!! ARGHHH!!! (so we waited for another 20 minutes just for the taxi to drop us off at the entrance)

by the time we arrived at the concert, thank god they haven't started anything yet and that was already 10:00 p.m. queued up for 2 bottles of mineral water for 15 minutes and heard the crowd cheering! hell yeah!!

the stadium was packed with 15,000 people...

to be continued.

si-si-silllyyyy!

today we decided to stay in and i'm officially a couch potato. i just love watching all the talk show, as mentioned in the previous blog. oprah, tyra, rachel ray, dr. phil (which is rather depressing, at times) but its interesting to watch and hear about the issues that they discuss in the talk shows.

but i was rather taken a back from one of the shows today... it was the topic of discrimination against the colored people, in tyra's show. well as usual - the whites, the asians, the latinos, the african american, and the middle easterns. i was pretty sad to find out that some of the audiences in the show was so freaking clueless! haha, and i thought we were lacking of knowledge here. but seriously, i think we're fortunate, we are by far smarter!

as they were discussing on the topic, they explained how they had conducted the survey and all. it was a close group discussion, and they only selected a handful of college students. and one of the candidate had asked this question, "Are you Black or Muslim?"... now how in the world did they get confused between religion and race? SILLY if you ask me. the whole thing was blown out of proportion if you ask me. the middle eastern lady was badly discriminated by the african american lady, it was heated! damn... one is telling the other one you should get educated and bla bla bla. i was getting frustrated, "gila bodoh!!" haha that's all i could say...

just thought i should share it with you guys. si-si-silllyyy i tell ya!
